Maria Sinche-Gonzalez is a Senior University Lecturer at the University of Oulu, working in the unit of the Oulu Mining School. She is a doctor and engineer in mineral processing from the University of South Australia and the University San Agustin from Arequipa, respectively. She has more than twelve years of experience in the mining industry, working for several companies such as Panamerican Silver in the Quiruvilca and Huaron mines, Trafigura Group in the Condestable mine, Newmont-Yanacocha mine, and BHP Billiton in the Olympic Dam mine – AMIRA Projects.
Maria has worked in research and teaching for 18 years and she has worked at the University of South Australia, at the Technical University of Lulea in Sweden, and currently in research and teaching at the University of Oulu in Finland.
During her research career, she has written several publications in renowned magazines and won the recognized Maria Curie Fellowship and Endeavor Award of Australia. Lately, she won and is coordinating the Erasmus Mundus Join Master in Sustainable Mineral and Metal Processing Engineering. Her expertise is in sulphide flotation, metal accounting, geometallurgy and modelling and simulation in mineral processing.
