From linear to circular economy – story of the bottom ash
Ing. Michal Šyc, Ph.D.
Michal Šyc works at the Institute of Chemical Process Engineering of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Since 2016, he has held the position of Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, and since 2022, he has assumed the role of Director of the Institute. His research focuses on waste management, especially waste-to-energy and related processes, as well as urban mining and recycling of various municipal and industrial wastes, and environmental impacts and criteria for waste utilisation. Throughout his career he has actively participated in and co-ordinated numerous national and international projects. In addition, he has authored or co-authored more than 40 papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His h-index is 18 and he has almost a thousand citations.
