The XVI International Mineral Processing and Recycling Conference – IMPRC 2025, in collaboration with the journal Metals, is organizing the “Metals Young Researcher Award” competition. The competition will be held as part of the conference. Master’s and PhD students, as well as PhD holders who have defended their doctoral thesis within the last 5 years, are eligible to participate. All candidates must be under the age of 35.

The application procedure is as follows:

– Candidates must submit their full original research papers (up to 6 pages in length) to the email address: imprc@tfbor.bg.ac.rs, with the subject “Metals Young Researcher Award.”

– Candidates must also provide proof of their student status (master’s or doctoral studies) or proof that they defended their PhD thesis within the last 5 years, as well as a scanned personal document (personal or student ID card, driver’s license, etc.) showing their year of birth.

– The first author of the paper must be the student, i.e. the candidate for the award, while a professor/mentor may be one of the co-authors.

– The paper’s topic should align with the thematic areas covered by the journal Metals: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/metals/about

After the initial phase of paper submission, a special committee consisting of distinguished professors and scientists in the field of mineral processing and recycling will select up to 10 papers that will qualify for the second phase of the competition. In this phase, the candidates will give oral presentations of their papers lasting up to 10 minutes.

After the presentations, the committee will select the 3 best young researchers based on the points awarded for both the paper and the presentation. The winners will receive certificates and monetary prizes from the journal Metals as follows:

1st place – 500 €
2nd place – 350 €
3rd place – 150 €.

The deadline for applications is March 15, 2025.

Note: Papers that have already been submitted for IMPRC 2025 may also participate in the competition if they meet the competition’s requirements.
