Serbia Zijin Mining d.o.o. Bor (formerly known as “Rakita Exploration d.o.o. Bor”) was founded on March 28, 2007. Since December 2018, it has been operating as part of the Chinese mining corporation Zijin Mining Group Co., LTD, whose main activity is the exploitation of copper ore, gold and other metals. At the beginning of 2019, by purchasing the shares of Nevsun and Freeport, it officially became the new owner of the upper and lower zone of the Čukaru Peki gold and copper mine, located about 6 km south of Bor, the regional and administrative mining center of Eastern Serbia, and about 245 km southeast of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
